Rand Paul and Peter Schiff respond to the erroneous claim that inflation is not a problem and that we should really be concerned about deflation. Also, Sean Ryan, a liberty activist from Boston, talks about his confrontations with Barney Frank and the president of the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank.

The Federal Reserve has increased the monetary base to an unprecedented level. If that money works its way through the economy, we will see inflation. Bernanke claims that the Fed can reduce the money supply if necessary, but Rand Paul suspects that if stagflation occurs (high inflation plus a slow economy), the Fed will not be willing to reduce the money supply.

At the root of the problem is the fact that the Federal Reserve claims to control inflation, when it is really the vehicle for inflation.

The last time we saw double-digit inflation was in the late 70s and early 80s. Although a lot of people aren’t worried about inflation right now, it could be just around the corner. With the launch of ABC’s new series “V,” there has been much talk of whether it is a critique of the Obama administration. The attractive and eloquent leader of the alien visitors comes promising health care, prosperity, and peace. However, her underlying motives seem to be much more nefarious.

That all those involved in the production of the show deny an connection to current events, that the original 1983 mini-series was acknowledge as an allegory to Nazi Germany, and that Hollywood traditionally leans left all seem to indicate that this was more a critique of fascism than of Obama.

All of this begs the question, why does the current administration come off so Fascist? The truth being that much of what is going on comes straight out of a totalitarian playbook: stretch the nation’s resources, scare the people, provide a strong leader, and nationalize economic planning. This could be coincidence, or a wake-up call demanding ever more vigilance.

As America becomes disillusioned with Obama, there may be an opening for third party candidates. One of those potential candidates is Texas Republican Ron Paul. Although he hasn’t announced that he will run in 2012, supporters are pushing for a candidacy.

Dr. Paul has repeatedly said that he is not looking beyond the current fiscal crisis, but this has not deterred his supporters, who have made history by being the one movement to survive beyond initial defeat. We shall see how the tumultuous political landscape affects a Ron Paul 2012 candidacy.

Police used teargas pepper spray and rubber bullets against University of Pittsburgh students during the Pittsburgh G20 Summit. Many of the students were not part of any demonstration but bystanders, curious to find a mass of armed riot police on their campus.
